Presentation Details:

In March 2024, the Omaha Streetcar Authority (OSA) Board of Directors approved an order for six new streetcar vehicles from Construcciones y Auxiliar de Ferrocarriles (known as CAF). The total contract is for $41.1 million ($6.85 million per streetcar, plus the spare parts for regular maintenance). This presentation will cover the details of the streetcars that Omaha is getting, which are the latest in international “tramway” design. Specific new technology details include new next-stop displays, enhanced safety, system upgrades, an Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS), and Computer-Aided Dispatch and Automated Vehicle Location (CAD-AVL).

The presentation will cover how the streetcars will look and feel to riders as they move about the different stops and how they will be maintained at the new facility on the Riverfront. It will also cover a brief history of past streetcar vehicles in Omaha, rail transit vehicles built locally (near Omaha) and some information on other streetcars and CAF vehicles in the United States.
